Hi 👋🏽 It's Brian from The Kenyan Wall Street
As we usher in the weekend, we analyze the state of the Kenyan economy. According to new stats, it grew faster in the second quarter of 2025, rising 5.0% from a year earlier, but the numbers tell a story of both promise and fragility.
Harry Njuguna writes…

Agriculture was the star, with bumper harvests of maize, beans, fruits, and coffee lifting the sector after years of erratic output. Services, led by transport, ICT, and trade, added steady momentum, reinforcing the picture of a consumer economy still finding its footing.
But the picture was not uniformly bright. Sugar output collapsed, tea exports softened, and tourism’s rebound showed signs of tiring.
Meanwhile, the construction sector flourished on the back of cheaper credit, suggesting renewed investment appetite, while mining, too, clawed back growth after earlier slumps.
Inflation cooled, food prices moderated, and the shilling held its ground; a rare relief for households weary of higher costs. Yet the gains rest on narrow foundations, with external imbalances, rising debt, and fickle commodity cycles still shaping the path ahead.

Inflation closed the month at 4.6%, a reminder that respite in one corner of the economy rarely shields families from strain in another.

How to Create a Home Office That Inspires Work
By Lulu Kiritu
A desk is never just a desk. It’s a stage where the mind performs, for better or worse, depending on the light, the order, the objects within reach. A cluttered corner can sabotage a morning before the first email is opened, while a window view or a potted fern can redeem an afternoon. Comfort matters too. The right chair, a lamp that flatters both paper and skin, the rituals that ease you into and out of work. The point is not perfection but creating a space that makes labor feel less like duty and more like rhythm.
