💸 Diaspora Inflows Drop by 2% in September

Remittances from the US in September this year represented 55% of the total inflows. There was a slowdown, however, as the money received from the US declined by 2.5%. Saudi Arabia came second as the country where Kenyans sent most remittances from, for the seventh consecutive month - surpassing European countries like the UK. This is because of changing migration attitudes in Europe and increasing labour demand in gulf countries. About US$53.9 billion was sent by Kenyans living abroad in September, making Kenya the third largest remittance recipient in sub-Saharan Africa. 📱Kenya’s Devices Assembly Plant Sells 360k Devices in First Year

The government has taken stock of its efforts to manufacture affordable smartphones since October last year. The East Africa Device Assembly Kenya (EADAK) sold 10% of the projected capacity of smartphones it can produce in a year. The assembly subsidised the cost of importing some of the components, thus reducing the costs of smartphones by 30%. The company is also slated to generate hundreds of jobs and drive economic growth. Making smartphones affordable will bring in more Kenyans into the digital net and improve internet access in a country that is increasingly digitised. ☎️ Airtel Revenues Grow by 7.5% in East Africa Amid Currency Devaluations

Airtel Africa's revenues in different markets have grown slightly in Q2 2025, despite pressing inflation and currency depreciations. In East Africa, data revenues rose by 12.1% while voice revenues grew by 9%. This can be attributed to the telco doubling down on its infrastructural investments to broaden its network. The mobile money service in East Africa grew by 31.4%, registering some growth in market share in Kenya. Although the group's profit reduced to US$79 million in the period under review.
